Rihanna‘s impressive appearance at the 2023 Golden Globes on Tuesday (Jan. 10) did not go unnoticed. While she did not win an award, she provided three of her fans with the opportunity to share a moment with her.
Presenter Niecy Nash used her time on stage to let Rihanna know that she was her inspiration for the spooky season. All eyes and ears in the room were focused on Nash as she waited to list off the nominees for actress in a television series – musical or comedy, which included Selena Gomez for her part in Only Murders in the Building.
Nash expressed his admiration for Rihanna by saying he had dressed up as her for Halloween and that he “just had to say that” before revealing Quinta Brunson as the winner of Abbott Elementary. Following this, Billy Porter and host of the show, Carmichael, also shared their appreciation for Rihanna, with the latter urging her to take as much time as she wants on her album and to ignore any pressure from the internet.
Enthusiasts of the nine-time Grammy award winner often poke fun at her on the web, but since her 2016 Billboard 200-topping album ANTI, Rihanna has not released a studio album. Nonetheless, she was featured on the soundtrack to 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever with the single “Lift Me Up”, which was nominated for Best Original Song, Motion Picture but lost out to “Naatu Naatu” from the action feature RRR.Rihanna lightheartedly reacted to the amusing remarks from the fans and has been anything but idle. She is set to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show in February 2022, a little over a year after the arrival of her first child with A$AP Rocky in May.
